Description
The Video & Social Media Characters course is a four-week program from UCB that focuses on creating and refining solo character pieces that live on video and social media. If you want your character to be in the digital spotlight on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, or YouTube, this is the class for you.
Students discover how to craft short pieces that can stand on their own AND create recurring video characters complete with backstories and a social media presence. Original content will be primed for filming, uploading, and even adding to new or existing character reels.
Throughout the course, students will improve their writing, comedic timing, self-taping techniques, and video editing skills. By the time the month is up, performers will know how to create grounded & impactful characters, write more & better jokes, capitalize on new trends, and use apps to add depth to the content through backgrounds and environments.
In addition to improving their characters and stepping up their production game, students also pick up tips for finding and retaining an audience on social media.
Online Technical Requirements
Students should have access to a computer and stable, robust internet access, webcam & microphone.
This online course uses Google Classroom & Zoom.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR CLASSES ARE HELD ON PACIFIC TIME.

- Classes are NON-REFUNDABLE
- WE DO NOT ALLOW MORE THAN TWO ABSENCES. Students missing more than two classes will be REMOVED from the course and will NOT be promoted to the next course level.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to sign up for this course.
- UCB Training Center reserves the right to accept or deny any individual's application.
- UCB Training Center reserves the right to postpone or cancel class if it does not reach a minimum number of students.
- Fees incurred by student for travel/lodging etc. will not be reimbursed by UCB Training Center or its affiliates.
- UCB Training Center reserves the right to replace any teacher at any time with another equally qualified teacher without notice.
- Participation in or completion of classes does not guarantee placement on a UCB Theatre House Team.
